Ponsonby Furniture specialises in manufacturing high quality bespoke joinery and furniture.

The company was founded in 1984 by Malcolm Mounsey, an established local craftsman. Now a small team of qualified cabinet makers and joiners is employed producing custom-made timber products for a long list of clients.

Most projects are designed in-house, but we can make items to customers’ own designs.

We have a full manufacturing capability and a reliable, skilled workforce. Training is important, and our craftsmen and women are encouraged to develop their skills.

Quality is our watchword with all projects whether large or small. Each piece is hand finished and inspected before it leaves the workroom.

The workshop is situated between the villages of Calderbridge and Gosforth on the A595 Whitehaven to Barrow road.

With our skilled team we are able to undertake any architectural or household project irrespective of size or complexity.

Previous projects have included the design, manufacture and installation of kitchens, wardrobes and cabinets; each displaying the natural beauty of timbers from around the world.
